Power line
Transporting the electrical energy generated in the power plant involves losses, which gradually become greater as the distance increases: at the end of the 19th century, the plants that exploited hydroelectric energy were built near the power plants and the power plants themselves were the evolution of mechanical systems who used the movement of water as mills, iron beaters and fabric processing plants. The distribution line that connected Malnisio and Venice, 88 km long, represented a record for the time. The line touched Porcia, Monastier and Campalto crossing the Piave; from here it then crossed the lagoon and reached the receiving cabin of San Giobbe in Venice.
The line was initially built with 3000 larch poles and special iron lattice supports. Subsequently, when the voltage was raised to 60,000 V to limit dispersion, the wooden poles were replaced with further metal lattice supports.
